10 things to know about the
Boat Tour to York Factory
You will want to bring: binoculars, camera, light layers, jacket, snacks, shoes you don't mind getting dirty, and sunglasses.
A lunch of BBQ burgers with all the fixings is included.
Life jackets are of course provided.
The on-grounds York Factory National Historic Site tour is provided by Parks Canada.
It is 240 miles (~386 km) via the Nelson River from Gillam to York Factory and return.
You will view storied Port Nelson, the beached dredge and the old trestle.
Wild animals in the area include seals, polar bears, black bears, moose, caribou, eagles, wolves & more.
Duration of the trip is typically between 10-12 hours, this varies pending high tide.
There are multiple motels available in Gillam, please be sure to book in advance. Please let us know if you are interested in camping in the area.
